Ledet recognized by Holland Chorale for excellence in music education

HOLLAND — A vocal music instructor at West Ottawa’s Macatawa Bay Center Faculty has been awarded this yr’s Calvin Langejans Excellence in Music Schooling Award from the Holland Chorale.

This yr’s award was offered to Carrie Ledet, who has taught in West Ottawa for 21 years. She presently conducts the sixth, seventh and eighth grade choir, eighth grade honors choir and co-teaches sixth grade starting band.

The award was established in 2019 to honor Cal Langejans, a long-time music educator and founding father of the Holland Chorale. It’s offered yearly to acknowledge “excellent music educators who share their love of and enthusiasm for choral music with their college students.”

Ledet obtained the award on the Holland Chorale’s gala dinner Grand Evening for Singing held Sept. 16 at Windmill Island.
