Baxter Regional Medical Center to host downtown celebration July 9

Baxter County Regional Medical Center is set to celebrate its new “Magnet Hospital” status with a celebration featuring live music and food trucks July 9 in Mountain Home’s downtown entertainment district.

The hospital joins the elite ranks of just 9{028e8b43b440f88d50a94b0ac799d5b93a220d942414697744f001bd74eb64d0} nine percent of U.S. hospitals that have the designation. Only 547 hospitals throughout the world have passed the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Magnet Recognition Program. It is the third in Arkansas to receive the status.

Baxter County’s hospital is one of the few hospitals to achieve Magnet status on its first try without assistance from consultants.

“We started down the path in 2012,” said Shannon Nachtigal, chief nursing officer for Baxter County Regional Medical Center. “The first thing we did was set up a nursing shared governance structure. And that consists of every nursing department having what we call a unit-based council.”
