ALANA ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson’s sister, Anna Cardwell, slammed online trolls who cruelly called the 15-year-old “too big” to model for Teen Vogue.
The reality star’s oldest sister exclusively told The Sun “Alana is beautiful. There are models like Ashley Graham who are 200 pounds, and she has huge contracts.
“I mean hell Victoria Secret is working with plus sized models. Does weight even matter?”
The 26-year-old pointed out that there is much more variety among models these days.
“The modeling industry has gotten so much backlash for not having plus sized models, now they’re doing diversity with all different types of people and cultures.
Anna proudly added “Alana actually stood up and did it, and hopefully she gives others the courage to do it.”
“Basically, she is putting herself out there, and all the teens who are overweight now- she has given them the encouragement.”
The 26-year-old said she was inspired by Alana’s shoot and said all of the sisters are beautiful, “We are nuts for sure, but we are all beautiful. We all could be models.”
Many fans of the Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star were supportive of the Teen Vogue shoot, while some people decided to be downright mean on the 15-year-old’s Instagram.
One person picked on the young teenager: “Why do people rave about an obese child. Obesity is a disease and must be treated.”
While another sent a nasty question: “R u ever going to lose weight?????”
In her wide-ranging interview with Teen Vogue, Alana addressed “body-shamers” and said that she doesn’t let negative comments faze how she sees herself.
“I don’t understand why people think this way. Just because I got a little bit of extra meat on my bones, you want to hate me? I’ll never get body shaming.”
“Like, I know I’m beautiful, and I know I got a banging body, so…I don’t care.”
She continued: “There are so many folks on my Instagram that do not like my nails or my eyelashes. But I do not care. As long as I like myself, I’m good.
“I don’t ever look at people and I’m like, ‘Oh, I wish I was like her.’ Because I don’t ever wish to be like nobody. I am my own person.”
PAGEANT QUEEN TO CENTERFOLD
Alana has been in the spotlight since she was a child and as fans may recall she actually started out in the beauty industry as a child pageant queen and was featured on TLC’s Toddlers and Tiaras.
In the shoot, Alana held herself like she never missed a beat and looked stunning and confident as the latest centerfold for the teen publication in which she modeled various high fashion looks.
Alana was dressed much differently than the casual attire viewers are used to seeing her sporting on reality TV.
The Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star embraced the glam posing in long silk dresses, bright colors, frilly sleeves, white gloves, and bold statement accessories in the photoshoot.
She also rocked various curly and straight hairstyles keeping her makeup simple with the occasional red or pink lip.
In their interview with the high schooler, Teen Vogue discussed her breakout role on Toddlers and Tiaras, which brought her career into motion at six-years-old, and the success she’s endured since.
“I want to be the best I can be, and I want to make my money, and I also want to make straight A’s, so I just try my hardest,” she told the publication.
However, the TV star admitted that she’s struggled keeping up with the lifestyle that fame brought her as she is still a “child.”
The interview continues with Alana claiming that she has moved on from her Honey Boo Boo character and embraced her true identity as Alana.
“They are completely two different people,” she told Teen Vogue.
“I would say that I do like this Alana now, rather than the younger Alana.”
When the world was introduced to Honey Boo Boo nearly a decade ago, her mother June “Mama June” Shannon was right by her side on the pageant circuit, which their relationship has unfortunately taken a turn since.
She was arrested with her boyfriend Geno Doak, who was charged with third-degree domestic violence, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
It is estimated that June spent a staggering $900,000 in a year on drugs.
According to court records, Geno was admitted into the Alabama prison system on July 29, and was given a release date of November 28, 2022.
Alana touched on the subject telling the publication: “A lot of folks in this world do not realize how many people are actually really affected by drug and alcohol [use].
“It’s very, very hard. It’s something I’d wish on nobody, for real,” she added.
